Scholarships


 The Arthur E. and Helen Copeland Scholarships are awarded annually to one male (Arthur E. Copeland Scholarship) and one female (Helen Copeland Scholarship) United States Association of Blind Athletes (USABA) current member who is legally blind and enrolling/enrolled at a two-year or four-year or technical institution or university as a full-time student.
Applicants must have participated in USABA sports programs. Consideration will be given to students with good academic records, involvement in civic/extracurricular activities, academic goals/objectives and USABA involvement at various levels. Applicants must be United States citizens. Scholarship amount awarded is $500.

National Amputation Foundation Scholarship
The National Amputation Foundation is proud to offer six (6) $500.00 scholarships to college students with a major limb amputation, who will be attending an accredited university as a full time student. A major limb amputation is described as loss of limb beginning at or above the wrist or ankle.To apply for the Claude S. Weiler Scholarship, the requirements are as follows: A letter from an attending physician (on letterhead) confirming that the student has a major limb amputation A letter from the college confirming that the student will be (or is) attending the school as a full time student
A copy of the students transcript, or a letter from the high school or college, confirming the student is in good standing,The student's social security number
A short letter (not more than one page) from the student explaining how the loss of limb(s) has affected his or her life.

The Ca. Association on Postsecondary Education and Disability (CAPED) is offering a number of scholarships for students with disabilities. The application deadline is October 8th, 2010. 

The 2010 CAPED Conference which has the theme of Transitions is being co-sponsored by CHIIP. Scholarships will be announced at the Conference which will be held October 23-27 in San Jose. While it is always wonderful when students can accept an award in person, it is not required. 

We will be providing scholarships to our CHIIP Advisory Committee youth representatives to attend CAPED since it has many sessions of interest and we will also have our next Advisory Committee meeting at the San Jose Hilton where the conference is being held on October 28. 

Eligible students may submit one application for all of the scholarships for which they would be eligible. A few of the scholarships are limited to students with a certain type of disability or who are enrolled in a specific type of program or area of study. All California Community Colleges would be considered two year schools and all California State University, University of California, and accredited, private universities offering Bachelor's degrees or beyond would be considered four year universities.Please check out the following link http://www.caped.net/convention/scholarships.html

 

 

The 2010 Joshua O'Neill and Zeshan Tabani Enrichment Fund Application Is Now Available
The Joshua O'Neill and Zeshan Tabani Enrichment Fund offers financial assistance to young adults (18+) with Down syndrome who wish to continue to enrich their lives by enrolling in postsecondary programs or taking enrichment classes that will help them to enrich life through employment, independent living skills, life skills or another way.  To date, over thirty students have received grants from NDSS to help cover the costs of pursuing their postsecondary education and enrichment goals. Visit www.ndss.org to download the application, or contact Vanessa Quick at vquick@ndss.org or 800-221-4602 with any questions.

 

Dosomething/Six Flags

DoSomething.org has teamed up with Six Flags Friends to award college scholarships to young leaders who are taking action to make their community a better place. Scholarships will be awarded based on past, current and planned action in the community as well as the applicant’s passion, commitment and proven leadership skills.

 

Incight Scholarship
The Incight Scholarship is for students with ANY disability, attending ANY post-secondary school, ANYWHERE in the U.S.The requirements are:

  • You must plan to attend school full time 
  • You must provide documentation of your disability 
  • You must provide a letter of recommendation 
  • You must complete the entire application
